Mike Goguen was working for a large multi-national corporation until he decided to become a restaurateur back in 2012. The result: The Fork & Bottle – Zurich’s first farm-to-table restaurant.

Upon arriving I first had to do a double take in regards to how many kilometres we’d ridden because it felt like we were in the countryside, though we’d only ridden a few minutes.

The Fork & Bottle is rustic and inviting: the structure as well as the menu. If International comfort food made of, seasonal, high quality, regionally sourced ingredients, served in a shabby chic setting is to your liking, then this is the place for you. The menu is very eclectic and there’s something for everyone.

In addition to their fresh kitchen offerings, The Fork & Bottle have a small but fine artisanal wine list but if craft beer is your thing, the list goes on and on and on… 6 full pages to be exact.

I ordered the Pulled Beef Burger along with a French craft beer “LA FRAICHEUR bière blanche au basilic” by Bière Trois Dames. Christoph had the Portobello Mushroom Burger and washed it down with a BERLINER RYESSE, a Berliner Weisse made by the Dutch brand, Jopen.

Service and quality were good and the wait staff helped us navigate through the long craft beer list. And the great thing is, not once did we hear “well… it’s good” when we asked “how is this or that beer?”. The waitress really knew here stuff and was able to describe beers in detail. Kudos for that.

I don’t do restaurant reviews per say, but The Fork & Bottle is definitely a place I’d recommend. Easy-going, good quality and when it comes to Zurich prices, I would say “very fair”!!

At the rear of the beer garden I noticed a massive grill area and smoker… definitely one more reason to return in the warmer months. And if you have a minute, check out their website for details regarding their special events, there are many to choose from.
